Hi All, Just over 2 weeks to go until Bass open here in Ireland. I look for some Mullet (thick-lipped) with the Fly rod. Salmon shrimp flies on floating line have worked well for me. Mullet can be very obliging at very certain tide times........
They are good sport on fly, excellent fighters with lots of stamina. Many call them the "irish bonefish". Although you need a lot of patience for them........

you look for spot with mullet in france ?

There are a lot of mullet in Harfleur, near Le Havre. But I never catch them with lures.
they are 'méfiant' (fish are , you have to be discret, like a invisible man)
You fish mullet With a fly road ? why not.

I see much mullet in Irland, I forget the name of the town, near sligo or balyshanon.

In fact big mullets are common in all french ports and estuaries of Atlantic or Mediterranean coasts of France.
But to be honest, most of anglers don't try to catch them despite its fighting behaviour.
It is not consider as a noble specie, anglers prefer more tasty fishes like seabass.

Merci All....Yes Mullet are very, very wary, with Eagle eyes, and a very good challenge for the saltwater fly fisher on natural presentations eg shrimp, worm.......You need to plan your tactics, you will need cunning, and stealth for sure....... I know there are lots of Mullet in France, I see loads of them in Concarneau some years back......
